Styled 4 Ways Pt.1
Styled 4 Ways Pt.1
The controversial piece that never seems to go out of style - the corset.
If you’ve been following along with me on my weekly blog posts, you will know that I LOVE versatility in fashion. If you can buy one piece of clothing and wear it with all different types of looks, I want it. Sooo, I decided to take the concept of styling these versatile pieces in my wardrobe and turn it into a series that I can show all of you beautiful people how I style these items multiple ways. This will be the first of several styled 4 ways blogs I will be sharing, but I thought I would start this series off with one I think may raise some eyebrows. Just because I like mixing things up! 😏
Now, let’s kick it wayyy back to one of the must-have fashion pieces originating from the 16th century – the corset. I’m not talking about the corsets used solely for the purpose of making your waist appear smaller than it actually is or the corsets used as lingerie, I’m talking the super trendy, much more comfortable corsets and bustier tops that have become a very hot ticket item in the fashion world today. Some of you may ask, uhhh why the corset? Great question.
The corset is a somewhat new item I added into my wardrobe and I’m not going to lie, I was super hesitant at first. I thought it was going to be one of those tops I wear out once and then hold onto forever in case I ever need it but will never actually wear it. I was wrong! Once I started pairing my corset with other pieces in my closet, I really grew a liking to it. I can now confidently say that a corset is a must-have in your wardrobe, especially going into the upcoming Spring season.
Here are the four ways I styled my corset:
1) On its own – simple yet so very effective. A corset top just on its own paired with jeans, trousers, or shorts is just so cool. What I love about it is that you can dress it up or down – wear sneakers to keep it casual or add some strappy heels or wedges to make it more dressy. The simplicity of a corset on its own really allows for you to have fun with it and create so many different looks without it looking like you’re wearing the same top. Because let’s be real… outfit repeating is a true fear some of us have.
2) With a knit arm warmer – another super trendy piece this year. Why not pair the two trendiest pieces together?? This look is very put together and chic but can be worn just about anywhere with the casualty of the jeans. This look would be perfect for grabbing dinner with friends (in a normal world). A lot of people are asking what to pair the arm warmer with… this is it
3) Throw on a blazer – because a blazer makes everything better, doesn’t it? At least that’s what I believe. An oversized blazer makes the corset more casual which is just the look you want when checking out the local shops or meeting up for brunch. Add some chunky black boots and a cropped pair of jeans and you’re the perfect mix of feminine and biker chick. This look is very Hailey Bieber-esque which as you know, I’m obsessed with.
4) Or a white button-down – did someone say chic?! A white button-down almost always will elevate a look, but pairing a corset with one will take you from trendy to just straight up runway vibes. I’m in loveee with this fit. An oversized button-down can sometimes have the tendency to eliminate the look of curves, and the corset brings that shape right back!
What I find so cool is that sometimes you have a versatile piece in your wardrobe and you don’t even know it, like my corset. I hope this gives you some incentive to get creative, weird, funky, and fun when thinking about how to pair pieces in your wardrobe. You never know until you try!
Until next hump day…
Peace & love!
