Spring 2022 Outfit Guide 🌷

Spring 2022 Outfit Guide 🌷

April showers, bring May flowers… and new trends!

Friends… spring is FINALLY here! 🌸 I feel like every year I’m like “wow, that was a long winter”, but this year I reallllly mean it (something I also say every year). There was one point where I thought we weren’t going to see the sun again. It was a long, cold, dark, and just miserable winter but things are starting to get brighter, warmer, and sunnier. No, it’s not summer but I’ll take it!

I love spring for so many reasons – the park picnics, the smells, the long lakeside walks outside, the patio drinks, the growing flowers, the bike rides through the city, the sunshine, the boosts in serotonin levels, and of course, the refresh in my wardrobe. I get so excited to break out some of my more colourful and “fresh” pieces once spring hits.

There are sooo many cute trends for spring this year that I’m totally obsessed with. Check out some trends I’m living for this spring season:

Stripes 🦓 – One of the hottest trends this spring season is STRIPES! You will see this everywhere… in t-shirts, pants, bikinis, blazers, footwear, and skirts. It doesn’t even matter which type of stripe it is or the colour because they are all in. Whether it be pinstripes, chunky stripes, vertical stripes, horizontal stripes, or zebra stripes, they are all verrrry on trend this spring!

Tailoring 🪡 – One of the biggest statements in fashion is suiting. Tailoring has been on trend for a while now but this season we will be seeing even more of it. Think menswear-inspired trousers, oversized blazers, fitted vests, and full matching suits. You can never go wrong with neutral colours, but just like everything else this season, colours and patterns will be very present in the tailoring world.

Mini Skirts 👗 – The shorter, the better! Although maxi and midi skirts are definitely still kicking around, mini and micro mini skirts are really taking centre stage this season. Similar to the stripes trend, it doesn’t matter the colour, texture, fabric, details, or rise because it is all in style. A mini skirt paired with knee-high boots… *chef’s kiss*. Can never go wrong with this combo.

Cowboy Boots 🤠 – Yeehaw! Giddy up, friends… cowboy boots are soooo hot this spring. I’ve already been seeing them absolutely everywhere and the snow just melted here in Ontario. I’m not complaining though. Cowboy boots are so chic in my opinion and just add that element of “cool girl” to any outfit. They can be styled with jeans, mini skirts, dresses, trousers, and even biker shorts. There are no boundaries with cowboy boots this season!

Trench Coats 🧥 – When I think of trench coats, I think of spring. They are just the perfect transitional piece to take you from early spring into the warmer summer months. Trench coats are kind of always in style but this year we will see a lot more of them in all different colours and patterns. I personally love the oversized fit and find it super cute paired with a white t-shirt, cardigan, or little tank. If you don’t have a trench, you definitely need one because I promise you it will become a true staple in your wardrobe.

COLOUR 🎨 – This comes as no surprise. I feel like colour is always trending in spring after coming off a dark, gloomy winter. However, colour is hotter this year than it has been in many years. This season you will see colour paired with other colours and much more bold statements. So fun! The hottest colours for this spring are kelly green, muted yellow, baby pink, lavender, and of course, orange. Don’t be afraid of it, embrace it!

Y2K 🦋 – We all know it toooo well. Taking it back to the late 90s – mid 2000s with the platform shoes, low-rise pants, butterfly clips, tiny tops, graphic tees, trucker hats, velour tracksuits, and tube tops. This is definitely a trend that is controversial for some and super nostalgic for others. I personally love incorporating certain Y2K elements and mixing it with some new trends for a good balance of old & new.

Sneakers 👟 – The best trend to ever exist. C’mon… who doesn’t love a good old pair of sneaks?? They have only become more and more trendy over the past few years and now can be found at just about any store. They seriously look good paired with just about anything – mini skirts, trousers, shorts, dresses, and jeans. Not only are they super cute and versatile, but more importantly they are comfortable. Win-win-win!

I could go on & on about the trends for this spring because I’m sooo excited. It’s just too good this year. Here’s to warmer weather, flowers blooming, patio drinks, and chic, new spring pieces. Happy spring shopping, friends! 🌷🌼💐

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
