COVID Date Night Ideas 😷

COVID Date Night Ideas 😷

Netflix & chill ain’t gonna cut it forever.

Here we are, over a year into quarantine… who the hell would have thunk? 🙃  Certainly not this gal!!! To say that times have been tough is an understatement. We have all had to put on our thinking caps, have a couple glasses of wine, and find ways to be creative to keep ourselves busy during these times in an effort to stay sane. But more importantly, we have had to find ways to stay busy while also keeping ourselves safe inside our homes.

For the first couple of months, everything was so new and unknown to the world that I found it quite easy to keep myself occupied. The Internet literally exploded with online activities and initiatives for everyone to utilize or download, and the classic stay-at-home tasks hadn’t been done yet like cleaning the house, sorting through old clothes, playing Animal Crossing, binging Netflix, and the list goes on. Once these jobs were done 40 times through, the boredness really started to set in.

You start to miss things that were once part of your normal life that got you out of your house, like going for drinks with co-workers, brunch on Sundays with your friends, and sweet, sweet hair appointments. Touchy subject. 😢 One event that normally gets me out of the house is date night with the bf. I love date nights! We tried to do date night every other week and always tried to switch it up. It’s usually just an excuse to throw on some lipstick and eat out on a cool patio. But I love it!

During quarantine, I really started to miss our date nights and made an effort to be creative and prioritize them again, whether we left the house or not. Netflix became a very common theme (still is) at our house that I really wanted to find ways to keep things interesting and fun for us.

If you’re feeling the same way I did or are just looking for some new ideas, I’ve put together a list of some date nights we’ve had or are on our list to do. Take a look!

Pizza Night 🍕 – The most classic date night of them all. But you really can’t go wrong with a pizza party date night – because pizza makes everything better. Make a cozy bed with pillows, blankets, a candle, and lots of wine on the floor and put on a movie neither of you have seen. If you’re looking to switch up your pizza date night, try out a DIY pizza kit from a local restaurant and make them yourselves!

Mediocre Facials 🧖‍♀️ – What’s better than spending time with your boo AND getting a facial? I mean… it’s definitely not your usual facial but a facial is a facial, right? Gotta work with what you got! Turn on the spa music, get out the towels and all of the supplies, and get ready for a good laugh. My man took this so seriously which made me LOL so hard. He’ll kill me for writing about this but you saw it here first, folks!!

Park Picnic 🧺 – Now that the weather is getting warmer, take your date nights outside to a safe area in the park. Pack up a yummy basket (or pick up sushi), a picnic blanket, and some sunnies and you have yourself the sweetest little date. If you’re lucky, you may be able to rope your babe into getting a good pic for the gram!

Build a Fort ⛺ – Don’t knock it until you try it, okay! We built a fort in our living room, watched our fav TV show, had some chocolate, set up some twinkly lights (well, I did) and cuddled. It was sooo cute! Not only did I feel like I was 5 years-old again, but it was freakin’ hilarious setting up the fort together. If you’re looking for a good laugh, I highly recommend this one.

Destination-Themed Dinner ✈️  – It’s no secret, we are all DYING to get on the first plane out of Ontario and see the world again. I don’t think I’ve ever gone this long without travelling before so to say I’m stir crazy is completely and utterly accurate. In trying to combat this feeling, bring your fav destination to you! We did a Greece-themed dinner with Greek salad, falafels, music, dancing, YouTube destination images and videos, and lots of tzatziki.

Beer Tastings 🍺 – Does your ideal date night include beer? You’re not alone. You may not be able to physically go out to different pubs and try new beers, but you can absolutely do your own beer tasting at home. Order a set of beer flights from Amazon and head to the BeerStore to pick out the different beers you want to try. You can totally do this with wine as well if that’s more your vibe.

Karaoke Challenge 🎤 – After a couple drinks, there is just nothing funnier than having a karaoke night with your partner. You don’t need an official karaoke machine, just use the remote as your microphone and pull the lyrics up on YouTube. Make a competition out of it with who has the better performance. Points if they show up in costume!

Homicide Detectives🕵️ – If you and your lover are obsessed with crime, stop scrolling. Yes, there are tons of Netflix documentaries to watch for us crime junkies, but how about actually being the detectives yourselves? We played the game, Unsolved Case Files, and it was such a thrill! We got so into it and had to solve it in one night because it was so addicting. 10/10 recommend.

As the days go on, my date night list of ideas continues to grow. We are living in a weird world right now so naturally, date nights are also going to be kind of weird. As long as you and your honey are having fun, making the most out of it, and continuing to be weird too, that’s all that matters!

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
