Miami Outfit Guide 🌴
The city of Art Deco, beautiful beaches, colour, and sizzling nightlife. How to dress for it all!
If you follow me on IG, you would know that I just got back from an EPIC 5-day girls trip to Miami. We had an absolute BLAST! The weather was gorgeous, the nightlife was insane, the food was delicious, the water was warm, and the vibes were immaculate. If you haven’t been to Miami, you totalllllly have to go. A common question I got when I was in Miami and when I returned was, “what did you wear?” So let’s get into that!
Miami is the absolute perfect mix of city and beach with amazing subtropical temperatures. Since there is this mix, it can be difficult to pack and come up with appropriate looks to fit both scenes. But the most important thing to note when packing for Miami is that just about anything goes. What I mean by that is bright colours, crazy patterns, and risqué cutouts are not only welcomed but highly encouraged. Miami is the place to go ALL OUT.
My suggested packing list:
- Bikini x 4 – the brighter, the better
- Denim shorts – great to throw on over a bathing suit to the beach
- Dress x 3 – one casual dress for the day, two dressier and sexier for the evenings
- Skirt x 2 – a denim skirt for the day & a classic black skirt for a night out
- Tank top x 5 – perfect with denim shorts for the beach
- White button down shirt – the chicest coverup
- Pants x 2 – white pants & a pair of jeans
- Heels x 2 – one pair of sexy heels for the clubs & one pair of platforms for comfort
- Slides x 2 – an absolute must for the beach/pools
- Sneakers – for when your feet hurt from the heels and for the airport
- Jacket or blazer – it gets breezy at night so it’s good to pack something to cover your arms
- Purse x 3 – it’s Miami, have fun with your bags!
- Fun jewelry – i’m talking chunky, blingy, colourful, statement pieces. The pieces that you can’t wear everyday
- Sarong – the perfect coverup for a pool party
- Sunglasses x 4 – you need options
- Baseball cap – for when your face has had too much sun
- Bucket hat – so cute with a colourful bikini
- Sticky boobs – crucial for backless shirts
- PJs
There are no rules when it comes to Miami fashion, trust me. When walking down Ocean Drive you will see just about everything and anything imaginable. But that’s what makes it fun! Miami is the place to break out your most outrageous pieces. I recommend neon, animal print, short hemlines, bling bling, colour blocking, and crochet. Hell, I even recommend styling it all together. It is Miami after all.
Just like how I pack for all my trips, I started with the events/activities I knew we were going to be doing, picking a fire outfit for that, and then working backwards. This will not only better help you plan your most Insta-worthy looks, but will also (hopefully) cut back on how much you pack (coming from the overpacker herself). You guys would be proud of me though… I packed all of my belongings into just a carry-on for this trip. I’m slowly learning!
What I would wear for some Miami activities:
- Day at the beach: bright bikini, an open white button down shirt, denim skirt, white slides, coloured bucket hat, stylish sunnies
- Exploring Ocean Drive: colourful mini dress, flip flops, brimmed sun hat, crossbody bag, sunglasses
- Night out on the town: animal print top, mini skirt, platform shoes, bold jewelry
- Miami art exhibit: cropped tank top, wide leg linen pants, clutch, colourful sandal
- Pool party: bold bikini, sarong, platform sandals, fun sunglasses
- Dinner & margaritas: fitted dress, bold bag, sexy heels
The last thing to note when planning your outfits for Miami is that it’s effing HOT. We went the first week of April and it was legit 30 degrees every single day. After not seeing the hot sun for over two years, it was a little bit of a shock. If you’re going to the beach or the pool for the day, just keep the weather in mind when you’re packing a coverup. You don’t want anything too heavy or anything with sleeves because you’ll end up just taking it off because it’s so hot. But the most important thing to wear is SUNSCREEN. Take it from a gal that got burnt on day one.
Overall, Miami is so freakin fun and definitely needs to be added to your bucket list if you haven’t been yet. When it comes to your wardrobe, embrace colour, take risks, be bold, and just have fun. Cheers to Miami! 🌴☀️🌊⛱
Until next hump day….
Peace & love!
