Parti With Cardi
The benefits of a sweater without the commitment.
The fashion trend that comes and goes like seasons – the cardigan. In my lifetime, this fashion trend has been so so cool and also so so uncool multiple times. This year, it’s cool y’all!! And I’m not just talking the cute, teeny tiny Gen Z ones, I’m talking alllll kinds of cardigans being cool. If you love a good grandma trend, this year is for you. You’re in luck because granny’s wool cardigan is totally in, along with the cropped cardigan, furry cardigan, long cardigan, matching tank and cardigan set, and the list goes on.
Interesting fact: the cardigan was originally only worn by men (surprise, surprise), but it was Coco Chanel who popularized cardigans for women because she hated that her hair would get messed up when pulling a sweater over her head. SMART LADY! 👏 This is one of the reasons that cardigans come back into trend every couple years. They are easy peasy lemon squeezy and just so effortless. Depending on your outfit, you can totally dress them up to go to a work function, down to run errands around the city, or just keep it simple and rep it on its own. All are V on point.
Cardigans are also definitely one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe and truly can be worn all year round. They are the BEST transitional piece to carry you from one season over to the next. They work perfectly with jeans and sneakers in the Spring, over a slip dress in the Summer, with a turtleneck in the fall, or layered with a jacket in the winter. Whenever I travel, 9 times out of 10 I will be packing a cardigan to cover my bases.
I’ve put together some of my faaaav cardigan looks and ones that I’m so excited to rock this season. Take a look:
There’s no doubt that cardigans are an item worth investing in. Since we know that even though they may leave the runway trends for a season but will always come back at us like a boomerang, you most definitely need one or twelve to add to your wardrobe!!!
I hope these looks have inspired you and given you more ideas on how to style your cardigan!
Until next hump day…
Peace & love!
