Friends… IT’S OFFICIALLY SUMMER! 🌞🌊🍦🌸⛱🕶 Just the season we wait alllllll damn year for, no big deal. It’s here! Time for park picnics, boat days, iced coffees, outdoor concerts, BBQs, tan lines, cottage nights, beach hair, freckles, and so many good memories. Even just typing that out made me smile from ear to ear. Nothing compares to summa time. 

Another reason I’m obsessed with summer is the more obvious thing for me – the FITS. My Pinterest board is probably 80% summer outfits which might sound normal for a fashion lover, however I live in Canada where our summer season really only lasts like a solid two months. Soooo good for me. Hey, I never said practical was my middle name, okay?

I had so much fun putting together some summer outfits I plan to rock this season based on what’s trendy at the moment. Take a look!

Platform Shoes 🚉 – The thicker & chunkier the platform, the better! Platform shoes are absolutely everywhereeeee this season – in the form of boots, sneakers, heels, sandals, and wedges. It’s definitely a nod to that Y2K fashion we’ve been seeing since the beginning of 2022, but it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. So let’s get tall!

COLOUR 🎨 – I feel like colour is always trendy in the summer, but this summer we’re talking big, BOLD colours like tangerine orange, clover green, fuchsia, electric blue, and hot pink. Pairing these colours together is totally cool too. 

Coastal Grandma 👵🏻 – This is probably the hottest trend this summer. The idea behind it is your outfit gives off that retired grandma who has moved to the beach for the summer vibe. Think oversized linens, matching sets, knits, crochet, sandals, and lots of neutrals. I’ve always been obsessed with this style so I’m so excited that it’s now easier to find when shopping!

Big Blazers 👔 – We all know and love the oversized blazer trend. It’s easy, comfortable, and chic as hell. Lucky for us, it’s sticking around this summer in a BIG way. This look is so cute paired with a mini dress or biker shorts & a band tee. So versatile and an absolute must in your wardrobe if you don’t already have. 

Matching Sets 👯‍♀️ – One of the coolest trends this year are matching sets. And like every type of matching set you can possibly think of – skirt & tank, t-shirt & shorts, cardigan & pants, jacket & jeans, bikini top & sarong… the list goes on. This type of dressing not only makes it super easy to pick out an outfit, but also ensures that you’re always stylin’. 

Parachute Pants 🪂 – You already know it, parachute pants are back in the biggest way. Are we back in the 80s?? Or just on the Justice Tour with Justin & Hailey Bieber? You can thank Hailey for bringing these pants back into our lives. And honestly, it seems to be the bigger, the better. A very popular look I’ve been seeing is big cargo-style parachute pants, paired with a tiny crop top, sneakers, and sporty sunglasses. 

Mini & Maxi Skirts 👗- Skirts are sooooo hot this season. Usually it’s one style that’s hotter than the other, but I would argue that mini & maxi skirts are tied this year. Both styles can be worn so many ways but give off such a different vibe. I love the look of maxi skirts paired with crop tops and platform shoes, but love the look of mini skirts with a cardigan and loafers. Can’t go wrong with either style this year!

Bikini Tops 👙- Wearing bikini tops as an actual top has been all over the runway recently. I’ve seen it styled with an open button down shirt, an oversized blazer, a vest, or just on its own. It’s a cute way to stay cool during these hot summer months. Also… your wardrobe just got a wee bit bigger now that we are considering our bikinis as tops!!

Athletic Sneakers 👟- One of my fav trends! Sneakers have definitely made a huge comeback in the past few years but this year there has been much more of a demand for the very athletic-looking sneakers. Brands like New Balance, Asics, Reebok, and ON are super in and super cool. I’m obsessed with pairing my sneakers with dressier pieces to create a casual-chic look. Plus who doesn’t love the feeling of walking on a cloud, amirite?

Best in a Vest 🦺 – Take my word, you will see vests EVERYWHERE this summer. Paired with a tank top, t-shirt, bikini top, or just on its own in all different lengths, textures, fabrics, and styles. A vest paired with jeans or a skirt will be one of the trendiest fits you can rock this season.
