My Go-To Summer No Makeup Makeup Routine
My Go-To Summer No Makeup Makeup Routine
Because who doesn’t want that “I woke up like this” look? My step-by-step & product breakdown.
It’s summertime and let’s face it, we alllllll want that no makeup makeup look. You know… the look that is supposed to look like you aren’t wearing makeup because it’s so natural-looking, but you’re actually wearing makeup. It’s all about that dewy, hydrated, and ✨clean girl✨ aesthetic this year. As someone who prefers to stay on the natural side, I’m jazzed that this is on trend for the summer.
This time of year, less is more. With the sun gifting us with sun-kissed skin, we really just need to add some rosey cheeks & glossed lips. I’ve tried tons of different no makeup makeup looks and I think I finally have found the routine I’ll be using for the summer months.
Take a look at my step-by-step routine and products linked below! Click to play the videos.
First and foremost – what I’ve found to be the number one trick to the no makeup makeup routine is SKINCARE. I feel this applies for any type of makeup routine you’re trying to achieve but especially this look. I like to use very hydrating products to plump my skin so my makeup products will sit on the skin effortlessly. So I would say a good serum, a hydrating moisturizer, and a really good eye cream should do the trick.
SPV 46 Tinted Face Sunscreen by EltaMD
Since my skin is naturally becoming progressively more bronzed this time of year (thanks sun), I find my skintones to become more even in colour too. I don’t like the feeling of caking on foundation so I’ve actually just been loving using tinted sunscreen on my face as my base. I’ve been combining the SPV 46 Tinted Face Sunscreen by EltaMD & Glowscreen by SuperGoop!. The Glowscreen offers that little bit of glow that we all strive for.
Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer by Kosas
When it comes to concealer, I definitely tone it down in the summer versus the winter. It seems I will always have dark under eyes no matter what I do *sigh*, so I will conceal there as well as any problem areas I have on my face. I’ve truly never used a better concealer than the Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer by Kosas. I have it in shade 2.5 and it’s soooo creamy and doesn’t crease for me like other concealers do. A DREAM! I will then use a damp beauty blender to blend out the concealer.
Nudies Matte Cream Blush by NUDESTIX
Blush is THE makeup product of the summer. If you’re going to buy one thing to rock this season, it should be blush. For me I’ve found that in order to keep that glowy, dewy skin consistent with makeup, cream products work best. This Nudies Matte Cream Blush by NUDESTIX is the best one I’ve found. I use it in the shade Naughty n’ Spice and it’s the perfectttt dusty rose colour. I like to use it on my cheeks, across my nose, and eyelids for that sun kissed vibe. Remember… there’s no such thing as too much blush!
Preciously, My Brow Pencil by Benefit Cosmetics
If you have perfect brows that aren’t patchy or have recovered from the early 2000s, you can skip this step. If you can relate to what I just mentioned then stay put. This is my favourite brow pencil on the market, and that’s the Preciously, My Brow Pencil by Benefit Cosmetics. It’s natural-looking and slightly waterproof which is perfect for the summer when you’re swimming or sweating. I wear it in shade 3.
24-HR Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel by Benefit Cosmetics
This product is an absolute MUST for the no makeup makeup look. Whether you already have perfect brows or you create perfect brows, you can’t skip this step. Brushed up brows are what really give off that “clean girl” aesthetic. I swear by the 24-HR Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel by Benefit Cosmetics. It holds the hairs in place all day long. Just how we like ‘em!
GenNude Powder Blush by bareminerals
Like I said, you really can never have too much blush in the summer. After using my cream blush, I like to go in and set it with the GenNude Powder Blush by bareminerals. Since I love the look of blush, I really want it to hold and last throughout the day. I’ve been loving the shade Pink Me Up.
Pearl Highlight Foundation Stick by Radford Beauty
Who doesn’t love a little extra glow?? I personally will try and add glow anywhere I can in the summer. The Pearl Highlight Foundation Stick by Radford Beauty is beyond good. I’m obsessed with the colour and it makes your skin pop. I like to rub a little bit on my finger so I have more control, and I’ll just place it on my cheekbones, down my nose, my Cupid’s bow, and my eyebrow bone. The prettiest highlight to ever exist!
CURL Eyelash Curler by Radford Beauty
When it comes to the lashes, I sometimes will skip mascara for the no makeup makeup look. However, I will curl my lashes regardless. I’m obsessed with the CURL Eyelash Curler by Radford Beauty - it’s curling technologies are unlike other curlers I’ve used. Whether you have long or short lashes, this one is a goooodie.
Roller Lash Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics
As previously mentioned, when I’m going though my no makeup makeup routine, mascara is a step that I’ll sometimes skip depending on the day. I’ve really been loving the look of rosey cheeks and no mascara lately. However, if I do wear mascara with this look I always keep it light with the Roller Lash Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics. I will typically do just one coat of mascara on the top lashes and leave the bottom lashes bare.
Lip Sleeping Mask by Laneige
The final step of my no makeup makeup routine is a glossy lip! I love love love the Lip Sleeping Mask by Laneige in the vanilla flavour. Not only is it super hydrating, but it's a natural colour and makes your lips plump and juicy. MWAH!
That’s it for my no makeup makeup routine, friends. It’s light, it’s hydrating, it’s easy, it’s glowy, and it just makes me feel good. Summertime makeup is for sure my fav makeup. Here’s to sun kissed skin, hydration, freckles, and LOTS of blush!
Until next time…
Peace & love!
