Crochet Everything🧶
Straight from table runners to the runway!
Crochet is back and bigger than ever. I would say it is definitely the HOTTEST trend of summer 2021 for sure. It’s absolutely everywhere you look and it’s so fab. I’m talking about that straight up 70s, hippy vibes with all things crochet – tops, shorts, bags, bathing suits, pants, sweaters, and hats. If this is news to you… then I’m so sorry but I must inform you that you’re living under a rock!
Crochet is the perfect way to add colour and texture into your looks. It’s just so cool. Although crochet does come and go into the fashion world, I feel as though it makes the most sense in 2021. Why might you ask? Think about it – the world is just coming off 1.5 years cooped up inside with not much else to do other than DIY’ing anything and everything. Crocheting is a hot ticket item for DIY projects and therefore has resulted in TONS of crocheted-awesomeness for the fashion industry. Not mad about it!
There are so many different styles, colours, patterns, and textures of crochet, so I put together some crochet looks that I’m obsessed with:
One thing I love about crochet pieces is that you can most definitely find them and purchase them from small businesses. There are sooo many small shops on Etsy that sell the most gorgeous crochet pieces in all different types of clothing and accessories. Some of these small shops will also accommodate custom orders if you’re looking for a certain colour, pattern, or style. How cool would it be to not only support a small business, but to also have a completely unique crochet piece that no one else has?? Count me in.
I think people sometimes shy away from crochet because it is too “beachy”. I don’t disagree, I can totally see that perspective. I absolutely associate that creamy-beige colour of crochet with the beach. It’s just so classic. However, if you style and accessorize your crochet with non-beachy pieces, you can totally rock crochet anywhere you freakin’ want. Take the picture of me above with the crochet halter top – I paired it with black trousers and slides for a very casual, yet cool girl look. I wouldn’t look weird going to the beach by any means, but also wouldn’t look weird going for lunch downtown.
I personally love the crochet trend and I sincerely apologize to all the grandma’s out there who had to deal with us kids rolling our eyes at them every time they put their heart and soul into making us a sick new crochet piece. Oh the things I would do for that now!!
Until next hump day…
Peace & love!
