Wedding Guest Dresses 👗

Oh you fancy, huh?

Weddings are back, people! 💍 After 1.5 years of Zoom weddings, small courthouse weddings, and cancelled weddings, in-person dress-up celebrations are back in a big way. I had my first wedding last weekend in what seems like forever. I personally love celebrating love, which in turn means I LOVE weddings. There is just something about them that I find to be so magical… the emotion, the yummy food, the ceremony, the open bar, the outfits, the speeches, the dancing, all of it. I love it all.

But one thing that I am appreciating about weddings this year more than ever before is the opportunity to just get dressed up. When it comes to weddings, the past year and a bit has resulted in either sweats at home for a virtual celebration or an old casual summer dress that you’ve worn 100 times for a small wedding ceremony. Not that there’s anything wrong with this, but getting all fancy once in a while is SO fun. Since we really haven’t had the opportunity to dress up in FOREVER, now is the time to take full advantage and go all out on your dress for the next wedding.

Here are some wedding guest dresses I’m loving:

Croissant Oval Locket Necklace by Mejuri

Le Chiquito Bag by Jacquemus

Gracey Heel Sandal by Steve Madden

Butterfly Dress by Reformation

Candy Apple Ring by Neon Afternoon

Tie Back Golden Hour Midi Dress by Danielle Bernstein

Heeled Sandal With Thin Straps by Zara

Leo Envelope Clutch by Rebecca Minkoff

Babaton Lato Dress by Aritzia

Bold Pearl Drop Earrings by Mejuri

Nearlynude Sandal by Stuart Weitzman

Simone Leather Bag by Looks Like Summer

Now, you can go allll out on your dress for the wedding. In fact, I encourage you to do so. But I do have two rules: 1) DO NOT WEAR WHITE. I don’t even need to explain myself here. And 2) you can look hella good, but don’t you dare overshine the bride. There is a fine line between a stunning dress and turning heads, versus trying too hard, being over the top, and stealing the show… don’t be that girl that does the latter. No one likes that. Remember, the sole reason you are attending the wedding is because of the bride and groom, so they deserve all the attention.

Another piece of advice I have when looking for a wedding guest dress is to think about the venue and the vibe of the event. If it’s a casual backyard wedding, tone it down and stick with a midi or mini dress. If it’s a black tie event, go with a floor-length, gown-style dress. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing worse than not being in the loop on the dress code for an event and then showing up wearing something that doesn’t fit the vibe. If anything, it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. Always.

I’m a big fan of a wedding guest dress that you can rewear, whether it’s to another wedding in the future or in your everyday life. I’m kind of at that age now where it seems everyone around me is starting to get engaged which means there will be many weddings in my future. No one wants to have to keep buying and buying new dresses to only be worn once. I highly recommend purchasing a dress that is versatile and can be worn elsewhere in order to make it worth your money. We love versatility here!!

Wedding season is here, so let’s all embrace it! Good luck & have fun with your wedding guest dress shopping. Oh, and one more suggestion from me… after not having worn heels in over a year, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend bringing some flats for the dancefloor! My poor feet are still recovering. 😞

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
