How To Keep Your Summer Skin ✨GLOW✨ Into The Fall
How To Keep Your Summer Skin ✨GLOW✨ Into The Fall
Summer may be gone, but your summer skin doesn’t have to be.
I think we have all swallowed the pill by now… fall is coming. Still have mixed feelings about it tbh… but what can ya do? With fall comes colder weather, heated indoors, long hot showers, and less moisture in the air around us. This unfortunately means drier skin for all of us. Booooooo. The million dollar question… how can we hold onto our dewy, glowy, glazed summer skin into the fall?? I’m going to tell you!
I want to preface this blog by saying that I am by NO means a dermatologist or a skin expert. I am just someone who is extremely passionate about skincare and love to share what works for me and MY skin in case it may work for others too. Please do your own research for your own skin before taking my suggestions and recommendations to the grave, okay??
So let’s get into it! Here are some tips & tricks I use to transition my skin into the colder months:
HYDRATE 💦 – This may seem obvious but hydration is what gives your skin that GLOW ✨. With moisture slowly being sucked out of the air as we enter the drier months, your skin needs all the hydration it can get. Try swapping your lightweight summer moisturizers for thicker, heavier creams. Some of my favs are FACE by Radford Beauty, Moisturizing Cream by CereVe, and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Cream by The Ordinary.
Cool it on the hot showers 🚿 – I’m soooo guilty of this… As tempting as it may be to jump in a steamy shower every time you get cold or damp outside, it’s actually contributing to drying out your skin. I’m not saying you’re not ever allowed to shower when you’re freezing because that’s just straight up crazy talk. Just be mindful and maybe reduce your four showers a day to one, maybe two if you’re cold to the bone. And be sure to moisturize your body afterwards!
Overnight masking 🌙 – This is something I just incorporated back into my skincare routine and I’ve already noticed a difference. Since we’ve already determined that hydration is key to maintaining glowy skin, overnight masking should come as no surprise. This goes for overnight face masks and overnight lip masks. My two go-tos are by Laneige – Lip Sleeping Mask & Water Sleeping Mask.
Continue to wear SPF ☀️ – This is the most common skincare step that is missed come the fall season. People often assume because it’s not as hot outside, there isn’t a need for SPF. This couldn’t be more wrong, people!!! There is still veryyyy much UV everyday which means SPF is absolutely needed. As we all know, the sun can burn and dry out your skin, and SPF protects your skin from the sun. It’s simple math! Plus if you wear Glowscreen SPF by SuperGoop!, it gives you an extra glow in the formula. Win-win!
Buy a humidifier 💧- Another great way to add some moisture back into our lives! Because God knows we need it… It’s good to have them in the house in general in the fall, but having one in the bedroom is really great for the skin while sleeping. Also if you’re like me and need a constant noise while you sleep, a humidifier does the trick there too!
Add in eye creams 👀 – During the warmer months, I actually don’t always use eye cream in my skincare routine. I find that my skin is hydrated and I’m not wearing as much makeup in the summer. But in the cooler months, an eye cream adds that extra hydration and glow that we want to hold onto. I notice a biiiiig difference in my makeup application in the fall when I’m using an eye cream versus when I’m not.
Hydrating face masks 🎭 – Who doesn’t love a good face mask?? On average I do a hydrating face mask once a week. In the fall, depending on how dry your skin gets, I would recommend doing a hydrating face mask at LEAST once a week, if not twice. This is such a good boost of hydration for the skin and truly gives that glow. If you follow me, you know I’m absolutely obsessed with the 24K Gold Hydrogel Face Mask by Radford Beauty. Highly recommend!
Introduce slugging 🧴- For those of you that don’t know what slugging is, it’s a skincare trend which has you coating your face in petroIeum jelly overnight. The purpose is to prevent water loss and lock in moisture on the skin. Not going to lie, I was so scared to try this technique because I 100000% thought it was going to make me breakout. I was shocked with the results. I woke up with radiant, hydrating, Hailey Bieber skin. It’s not something I do every night, but if I feel like I need an extra boost and my skin is not already breaking out, slugging is where it’s at.
Now, let’s fight off this fall dry skin together!! We got this 👊🏻.
Until next time…
Peace & love!
