At-Home Activewear 🏋️‍♀️

At-Home Activewear 🏋️‍♀️

Life is short. Buy the leggings.

Alright alright, I know what you’re thinking… “but all the gyms and studios are closed right now, why would you do a blog on this?”. Yes, you’re right. In Ontario this is the case due to province-wide lockdown restrictions in response to COVID-19. Buuuut are you just going to sit around and wait for those gyms and studios to open back up before you workout again?? Absolutely no judgement here because times are weird and I have to admit that I’ve fallen right off the workout-train pretttttty hard. And by falling off really hard I mean like you can call me humpty dumpty because it’s been MONTHS. But with that said, I really do want this to change in 2021 and get my workouts in at home… since we can’t go anywhere else. I’m determined (for right now anyway).

Fitness is another very common New Year’s resolution and therefore is a hot topic this time of year. For me, I usually start the year off strong with an unrealistic goal for myself, then become discouraged because I don’t achieve my goal and then take a break. It’s a vicious cycle, friends. 🙃  So this year I decided that I’m going to take it easy and do exercises and workouts that I like so I don’t feel as discouraged or pressured. Good plan? Not sure yet but I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out!!

Working out can be a daunting activity. I know that I definitely dread it sometimes. My parents own and operate a fitness centre for a living so I grew up with both my parents as my personal trainers. Without them yelling at me to do one more rep or the equipment I’m used to, I find it extremely hard to get motivated to get my ass into gear for an at-home workout. But you know what helps with this feeling is discouragement? A new outfit!! Take a look at what I’ll be wearing:

My go-to workout fit is most definitely high waisted leggings and a cute sports bra. I find it to be comfortable yet supportive and also easy to throw a hoodie over if need be. I love that a white or black sports bra top can go with every pair of leggings in your wardrobe but each will look like a completely different active look. I’ve always preferred a legging versus a short for my workouts, but the bike short has really changed the short perspective for me. I love the coverage and comfortability of the bike short. There is NOTHING worse than the feeling of shorts riding up while you are mid exercise, ammirte? So the bike short and its length is perfection. Add your boyfriend’s t-shirt and you can easily go from workout class to grabbing a coffee with a friend in a non-pandemic world!

But let’s talk about a matching set tho.👌  A matching legging and sports bra set really just make me feel like I have my shit together, which is a great feeling. You can never ever go wrong with a matching set, whether you’re in a boujee SoulCycle class or in your living room following an instructor on YouTube. A super underrated activewear item is the unitard. These definitely were a hot commodity in the 80’s in neon, metallic, and paired with leg warmers, but I appreciate them now in just your good old neutral colours. The unitard is seriously the romper/jumpsuit of the activewear world – one & done! They are definitely meant for a more low impact exercise but are so so so cute.

I definitely don’t want to put pressure on any of you to HAVE to workout. That’s not my goal here. I’m putting this out there into the world for those of you that are feeling like me and may want to get the blood flowing but need that little extra push… an outfit will do that for you. A new outfit works wonders, people.

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
