Footwear Trends For Fall ‘23

Footwear Trends For Fall ‘23

The time of year that your feet do the talking! 9 different footwear trends for this Fall season.

Well friends, it’s officially Fall. I still cannot believe I’m saying that out loud but here we are on October 13th!! With every new season comes so many new and exciting pieces to swap into your wardrobe. And as much as I adore Summer and the easiness of just wearing a crop top, cut off jean shorts, and flip flops everyday, Fall really does take the W in terms of fashion for me. Especially Fall footwear.

Fall’s cooler weather allows you to hide your toes, save money on manicures, and finally embrace all of your cute close toed shoes that have been pushed to the back of the closet since the Spring. Fall’s temperatures also allow you to rock boots without the complete and utter STRESS of destroying your boot babies with salt stains because there is no snow quite yet. IYKYK for my fellow Canadian readers. Soooo basically Fall is the best time of year for footwear and just in general, really.

The Fall ‘23 footwear trends are so beyond good that it physically hurts me. Well, moreso my wallet but that’s an extension of me. If you’re particular in the footwear department, not to stress because there is something for everyone on this list… trust! Let’s dive into it:

Moto Boots 🏍️

Buckle up, ladies! Moto boots are allllll the hype this Fall. I was a little hesitant on this trend at first because it low key gave me 2010 vibes, but I caved and bought myself a pair and I can say… it hits different. They are just as comfortable as they were back in 2010, but wayyyyy cooler. I love pairing mine with a mini skirt, dresses, and shorts. Cool girl vibezzzzz for sure.

Mary-Janes 🩰

If you haven’t been seeing the Mary-Jane trend…. You’ve been living under a rock, my friend. It has completely taken over the shoe industry. There are heeled Mary-Janes, flat Mary-Janes, coloured & patterned Mary-Janes – you name it, it’s trending. I think Mary-Janes are the cutestttt paired with a little white sock, a mini dress, and an oversized blazer, personally.

“House Shoes” 🏡

I mean… Do I actually need to even expand on this one? The “house shoe” trend has been around for a while but has kind of rebranded this Fall. It’s the same thing we’ve been seeing for the past couple years – UGGs, Birks, slippers, etc. Basically shoes that are intended for wear at home, but are just way too good to be restricted to inside only. I adore the contrast of something like a power suit and a comfortable, fluffy house shoe. HUGE fan of this trend!

Over-The-Knee Slouchy Boots 👢

Sky high is not high enough! Over-the-knee slouchy boots were absolutely everywhere during fashion month this year. Black, brown, suede, leather, croc, snake print, metallic, and everything in between. Different from years past, this year we are seeing the boot with more wiggle room on the leg. You really can’t go wrong with any version of this trend because it’s alllllll in.

RED 🍒

RED EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL AT ONCE. The number one colour for Fall without a doubt. You will see red jackets, bags, sweaters, lipstick, scarves, hats, hair, and most importantly… shoes. And I’m talking every style of shoe too. I’m on the mother effing HUNT for a pair of red sneakers. If you have red shoes, consider yourself an it girl… and I’m jelly of you.

“Court” Shoes 👩‍⚖️

A classic look that never ever goes out of style. This concept of “court” shoes is essentially just a nice pair of black pumps, something you would feel comfortable wearing to a formal setting like court. If you don’t already have a pair of shoes like this in your wardrobe, you need. They are just so good to have and go with everything. This season we are still seeing them styled like they always have been with more formal outfits, but we’re also seeing them with casual streetwear which is pretty dope.

Denim on Your Feet 👖

Similar to red footwear, denim footwear is SO HOT this season. Denim is always big for Fall but it seems this year it’s on a whole nother level. Like you can rock a full Canadian tuxedo AND denim shoes and no one is questioning it. Not one person. It’s also such a vibe to wear a very neutral outfit and pair it with a statement denim shoe. There’s no such thing as too much denim, friends.

Penny For Your Thoughts 👞

We’ve done a full 180 with loafers this Fall season. If you recall last year, the goal was to have a chunkiest loafer in the room. Now we’re looking for a sleek, skinny loafer – meet the penny loafer. Basically the chunky loafer’s older, wiser sister. This style looks so bomb with baggy denim, trousers, mini skirts, and slip dresses. I’m kind of obsessed tbh.

Narrow Sneaks 👟

Just like the penny loafer, the sneaker game is totally different this season too! Platform, chunky monkey sneakers are out, and narrow, slim sneakers are sooooo in. These sneakers are much less of a statement and work so well with more looks. They are easier to walk in and give off more of that low key cool. I actually love this trend and find myself slowly becoming a sneaker head because of it…. Uh oh.

Until next time…

Peace & love!
