Styled 4 Ways Pt.3: Halloween Edition 🎃

Styled 4 Ways Pt.3: Halloween Edition 🎃

The ultimate staple in every woman’s wardrobe - the little black dress.

Welcome back to part three of my styling series, Styled 4 Ways! We all love versatility when it comes to clothing, so I thought to myself with Halloween just around the corner, how can we be versatile without wearing the same costume? Because we all know that’s a big no-no. We can’t be costume repeaters. It’s simply just not an option. But what if there was a way to rewear an existing piece in your wardrobe but look completely different?? Before we get into it, let’s talk Halloween first.

It’s the one, the only… spoooooooky season 👻 . The countdown to Halloween is on… 11 days to be exact! I absolutely LOVE Halloween and everything that goes along with it – the parties, the candies, the pumpkins, and of course, the costumes. It’s just so much fun to get dressed up and pretend to be someone or something you’ve wanted to be. It’s kind of like a mini escape from real life for just one night. But as fun as Halloween is, it’s definitely time consuming. The brainstorming of unique costume ideas, the buying of the costume, the putting the costume together, the perfecting the costume, the getting the perfect picture in the costume, and then the event to wear the costume to. Extremely fun, but exhausting.

Meet the little black dress (“LBD”), a piece in your wardrobe that you should be very familiar with already. You may know it as the staple basic for all seasons and quite possibly the most versatile piece one can own, but did you know your LBD is capable of slaying the Halloween game too? Is there anything a little black dress can’t do?? I really don’t think so. Perhaps you have multiple Halloween events to attend and need another costume idea, or you want to give the wallet a little break and work with what you got, or maybe you just are the LBD type and this is right up your alley. Whichever one of these you are, you truly cannot go wrong with a costume using your LBD. Nothing wrong with simplicity, baby!

Take a look at some Halloween costume ideas utilizing a LBD as the main ingredient:

Witch, But Make It Chic

I mean… a witch is just such a classic. You can never go wrong with being a witch. But how about spicing it up and making it a chic witch? So fun!

What you will need:

  • LBD
  • Witch hat
  • Broom
  • Long black gloves
  • Feather boa
  • Black pointy shoes
  • Striped socks
  • Black lipstick
  • Bonus – a cauldron with potions

Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

So iconic. I’ve always wanted to be Audrey from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s one of those costume that you have to be once in your life. I also felt so glamorous being Audrey. Can I be Audrey everyday???

What you will need:

  • LBD
  • Pearl necklace
  • Tiara
  • Black sunglasses
  • Black heels
  • Long black gloves
  • Cigarette holder (or a painted black chopstick like I crafted lol)
  • Bonus – a classic blue Tiffany’s box

Cruella de Vil, Cruella de Vil, If She Doesn’t Scare You, No Evil Thing Will!

One of my most hated villains from my childhood FOR SURE. Still kinda mad at her tbh. But like so fun to pretend to be her for Halloween! I kept doing her evil laugh when I was in costume… not gonna lie.

What you will need:

    • LBD
    • Light-coloured long coat
    • Red gloves
    • Red shoes
    • Half black, half white wig
    • Cigarette holder (or a painted black chopstick)
    • Bonus – real Dalmatian pups!!

The Legend, Ruth Badger Ginsberg (RBG)

Round of applause for the one & only. The one who paved the way for sooo many of us females. A true queen. I felt honoured to be RBG for even just a couple minutes taking this photo.

What you will need:

      • LBD
      • Long black trench coat
      • Black tights
      • Black flat shoes
      • Statement earrings
      • Glasses
      • A jabot (I used two doilies)
      • Bonus – a mallet

These costume ideas are just four more ways to love your LBD… like you need another reason. If you already have a little black dress, you get it. If you don’t, I sure hope these costumes alone sold you on one!

Have a fun, spooky, weird, and safe Halloween, friends! 👻

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
