Winter 2021-2022 Outfit Guide ❄️

Winter 2021-2022 Outfit Guide ❄️

Hot fashion statements that will make you forget about the cold.

Whether you love it or hate it, the coldest season of the year is here. BRR! I have a serious love-hate relationship with winter each and every year. On one hand, I despise the treacherous, freezing, sub-zero temperatures that dry the hell out of my skin, but on the other hand, I loveee the activities, the fires, the coziness, and of course, the fashion.

Winter fashion is all about bundling up but looking good while doing it. The nice thing nowadays is that you absolutely do not need to sacrifice warmth for style. It’s cool to achieve both goals in one outfit. I’m talking about the wool coats, turtlenecks, parkas, scarves, pants, toques, cardigans, boots, long socks, and the list goes on and on. If you think about it, there are some really cool pieces that you can only wear in the winter that don’t translate into the rest of the year. So…instead of being cold and bitter about the season (literally), let’s embrace it and have fun with our winter style this year!

The trends I will be wearing alllllll winter long:

Knitwear 🧶 – Even if you dress from head to toe in knitwear, it’s still not enough knitwear. This has been a huge trend all of 2021 and will keep on trekking into 2022 without looking back. Whether it’s just an oversized knit sweater or a full on matching knit loungeset, you can never go wrong with knitwear this season. There are so many colours, patterns, cuts, and lengths to choose from and every single one of them is on trend.

Après-Ski  ⛷️ – Ski school is in session! One of this season’s hottest trends is everything and anything ski chic. This includes oversized parkas, toques, fair isle sweaters, sherpa-lined boots, headbands, scarves, and bright patterns and colours. The goal is to look like you just came off the ski hill but with a fashionable twist. This is what I mean by you don’t have to sacrifice warmth for style this season… it doesn’t get much warmer than ski gear.

Vegan Leather 🌱 – This is another trend that has been hot all of 2021 but will not be going anywhere in 2022. Vegan leather is absolutely EVERYWHERE you look – pants, blazers, crop tops, skirts, coats, headbands, shorts, and dresses. It started out as one piece in the outfit and then quickly turned into the whole outfit. Leather on top of leather is HOT. We just can’t seem to get enough of it!

COLOUR 🎨 – Move over neutrals, bright, fun colours have moved in for the winter. Some colours that you will be seeing left, right, and centre this season are green, lilac, and electric blue. And I’m not just talking a pop, I’m talking an entire coat or an entire outfit. This time of year tends to be so dark and grey so it’s nice to see some colour out there brightening the mood. Let’s be WILD!

Puffer Everything ☁️ – Kayne West called it back in Yeezy Season 7. Puffers are the trend of the season – long ones, mid-length ones, short ones, cropped ones, vests, hats, boots, you name it. Not only do they keep you so warm, but they are dominating the streetwear game. It’s as if you can’t have too many puffers because the variety that exists this season is almost overwhelming. If you don’t already have, you need.

Faux Fur 🧸- The kinder, more affordable, and equally as stylish fur. Faux fur could possibly take the cake for the most popular trend this season. You’ll find it in the form of coats, bucket hats, scarves, lined boots, earmuffs, and so much more. It seems to go with just about every outfit, while also serving its purpose of keeping us warm while outside. You cannot go wrong with faux fur, no matter how hard you try. I mean… who doesn’t want to be a human teddy bear?

Platform Boots 🪜 – The chunkier, the better. At least this is the case when it comes to boots. Platform boots are a hot ticket item this season and are definitely a must-have in creating those vibey winter looks. Think platform boots from the 70s but perhaps a little less flashy and a little more neutral. People are initially scared of platforms for walking purposes, but let’s just take a moment to be thankful the trend isn’t stiletto boots this season!!! Bless up.

Monochromatic 🕺 – Throwing it back to the 60s! Monochromatic/tonal dressing is so chic right now. Audrey Hepburn & Jackie Kennedy really brought this vibe to life back in the day. It gives off that editorial look but is sooo much easier than that. You really can do any colour, but I love a full black on black, brown on brown, blue on blue, or cream on cream moment myself.

So there you have it. Winter doesn’t have to be allllll bad. Stay warm, stay stylish, and stay happy, friends!

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
