Welcome back to part two of the Forever Fashion Icons series! It’s time I share more of my inspiration that I use to put together my everyday looks. With the news of the royal family growing (congrats Meghan & Harry!!), I thought what better time to do the next fashion icon of mine? Next up is one that I think the majority of us women can agree on, even if they don’t know it – Princess Diana. The 👏 ultimate 👏 it 👏 girl.

Not only was Princess D the badass in the royal family, she was also the hottest trend setter across the world for her casual yet chic style. She may have only been a princess, but she was a straight up QUEEN of casual wear. She rocked everything flawlessly from blazers, to mom jeans, to biker shorts, chunky sneakers, to oversized crewnecks, to turtlenecks, and more. She held the title of “black sheep” in the family for a couple of reasons, and her style was definitely one of them. She stood out in the best way possible.

I recreated some of my all time fav Princess Diana fits with pieces I have in my wardrobe. Am I part of the royal family yet or…?

The white button down shirt, the high waisted jeans, the crewneck sweater, and the chunky white sneakers – these are all pieces that are very prominent in today’s fashion. Who do you think brought these pieces into the light? That’s right, Diana did! She helped to normalize casual wear, even if you are part of the most prestigious family on the globe. Of course people have taken different approaches to the looks Diana had, but the bones of many outfits including these classic and timeless pieces originate from a Diana look.

Princess D loveddddd jeans. And I mean, can you blame a girl? Jeans are the best pants for everyday wear and can easily be dressed up or down. Especially a good old pair of mom jeans, which she absolutely slayed in might I add. 👑  She also repped her cowboy boots loud and proud on laidback days. Western/cowboy boots are a full on VIBE, friends. They were a trend that kind of left but has since then reentered the door in 2021 and is sooo fire. Don’t be scared to style these! Cowboy boots paired with shorts and an oversized blazer and band tee is so cute, or alternatively a white tee and mom jeans like Diana would have worn them is also adorable.

I think the coolest thing about Diana’s style was that she knew what she liked and she ran with it. It’s not very often, especially at that time, did you see the royal family out and about in an oversized Harvard crewneck, biker shorts, and white sneakers. However, Diana was making a statement and she fully embraced it. That confidence and badass-esque attitude shows through her outfits which is what I find to be so damn inspiring. It’s easy to wear what you’re supposed to wear, what’s actually hard is finding your own style and pushing forward with what makes you feel like you. So kudos to her!

I would love to see what Princess Diana would be rocking today. I know she would still be dominating the style game. At least us fashion lovers have her memories and all of her EPIC paparazzi shots to replicate for the next 100+ years!

Until next hump day…

Peace & love!
