Spring Suiting
As Barney Stinson said, it’s time to "suit up!"
There’s no denying the fact that suiting is one of the leading trends for this Spring season. Suiting is a familiar trend that we’ve seen repeated over the years and truly never will go out of style. The only difference is each time this trend comes back around, it brings new cuts and silhouettes to the suiting game. This season the trend has taken a step back from your standard safe suit, and instead is embracing bold, colourful, and statement suits. Because why the hell not!
Speaking as a woman who used to be intimidated by suits (and sometimes still am), they definitely can be a hard set to navigate your first time around. There are seriously SO many different fits and colours and lengths to choose from that it can be overwhelming. This season, brands haven’t made it any easier on us to narrow it down with their wide selection of suits. There is everything from neons or neutrals, short suit sets or skirt suit sets, bold or subtle patterns, oversized or fitted, and the list goes on for miles. But hey… I’d always prefer more options than not enough.
I don’t know about you, but I associate a woman in a suit as a powerful figure and someone who has their shit together. Don’t you want to be her? I do! I’ve put together some suits that I’m gushing over in hopes that I’m able to help you find one that SUITS you – get it??
I think a huge misconception surrounding suiting for females is that it is “masculine” and “only for men”. I couldn’t disagree more. A suit has just as much charm as a dress and just so much to offer. A suit also has the ability to mix and match to make the look whatever you want. If you feel like you’re lacking that feminine side while rocking a suit, add a lace tank and some gold jewelry with a statement handbag. A matching power suit on a woman is SEXY! Get that straight.
The other beautiful thing about a suit is that you actually get multiple outfits and looks for the price of one – versatility at its finest. You can take a blazer from a set and pair it with a floral blouse and high-waisted flare jeans, or grey sweatpants and Nike sneakers like Hailey Bieber does. With the bottoms of the suit, whether it be pants or shorts, you can totally pair these with a white t-shirt, cropped top, or a different blazer from another suit set. The outfit combinations are seriously endless.
I have become a hugeeee fan of suiting and am personally thrilled that it’s back and bigger & brighter than ever. Although we may not have many events or outings this year to rock a suit, you can totally suit it up when running errands or grabbing a coffee. Suits have become so casual now that they have really fallen into that streetwear category. And are dominating might I add!!
If you’re scared of suiting, I hope that I’ve helped to make you see that they really aren’t as scary as they might appear to be. Suiting is a statement, and I can’t wait to see all you bosses in yours!
Until next hump day…
Peace & love!
