Hair Care 101
Invest in your hair, you wear it everyday.
Ohhhhhh hair. I’ve been oh so mean to you in the past. It’s sad to admit it, but I’m talking about the hack bleach jobs (both from a salon & a box), using gobs and gobs of gel and brushing my hair back into the tightest bun of life for skating and dance, washing my hair every single day in high school and completely stripping it of all of its natural oils, and the worst of all… my mom legitimately ironing my hair on the ironing board. Pin straight hair was in, okay? CRINGE. I’m so sorry, hair ❤️.
However, the past is the past and I have made a huge change in my hair care routine. We have a good relationship now, I promise! I have tried tons of products over the years to see what I like and what works for my hair. Let’s face it – we all spent a year without styling or getting our hair done. I think we all deserve a round of applause for that. But now that salons are back open in Ontario (Hallelujah!!!!), what better time to get your dew looking and feeling good?
I put together a list of my 6 fav hair care products. These products have worked wonders on me and I would recommend them to anyone. Take a look:
Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 by Olaplex
I kind of wanted to leave this blank since everyone knows this hair mask is the only hair mask that matters!! But for those of you who haven’t tried this yet, it’s an absolute must. This stuff seriously saved my hair’s life over this past year when salons were closed. It hydrates your hair and keeps it feeling smooth.
Vegan Boar Bristle Hair Brush by Briogeo
I think a good brush is very underrated. There are so many brushes out there that are actually harmful for your hair, so it’s important to get the right one for your hair type. With fine hair, I really like a bristle brush and this one is so great. Defs recommend.
Honey Infused Hair Oil by Gisou
This hair oil IS IT. I’m obsessed with all Gisou products, but this hair oil takes the cake for me. You can use it on damp hair out of the shower, dry hair after a blow out, or as a hair mask or overnight treatment. No matter when you use it, your hair will just shiiiine. It’s just so so so good. *chef’s kiss*
Silk Scrunchie by The Silk Labs
Loveeee these products! Silk hair products are so much better for your hair than regular elastics as they help to reduce breakage when putting it up. As a dancer and figure skating growing up, my hair was pulled back in a bun constantly and the breakage was reaaaal. I’ve noticed a big difference with my breakage ever since using silk products in my hair. These scrunchies are the cutest!
Leave in Conditioner by Ouai
I literally don’t think I could shower without this. Since I have fine hair, I find that my hair tangles so easily. The only way I can get a brush through my hair after washing it is with this leave-in conditioner. But it’s not a bad thing because it also helps to hydrate your hair and smells like actual heaven.
No Yellow Purple Shampoo by Fanola
This one is for all my blonde friends. I’ve tried lots and lots of different purple shampoos and this one has been my fav so far. It’s SUPER pigmented so I usually mix it in with my shampoo, but I have used it on its own if I’m feeling really brassy. I also find that if I use it too often, it dries my hair out so I use it about twice a month. Seriously good stuff!
May you all have healthy, happy, and hot girl summer hair!
Until next hump day…
Peace & love!
