Nashville Outfit Guide 🤠

Nashville Outfit Guide 🤠

How to dress for the city full of music, neon signs, honky-tonks, country-music stars, and hot chicken sandwiches.

Yeeeeeehaw! If you follow me on IG, you would know that I just got back from an UNREAL 5-day trip with my fam to Nashville. This city has been on my bucket list for quite some time and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Not only was it a freakin’ hoot, but I’m also soooo happy I was able to experience it with my brothers. It was such a special trip for me.

Since being back, I’ve gotten a lot of questions specifically around about what to wear to certain places/events, so I thought putting it all into a blog would help for those looking to visit Nashville too. Also… if Nash isn’t on your bucket list, you’re doing it wrong, cowboys & cowgirls. Nashville is a beautiful city full of so much life, stardom, and music. I mean, they do call it “music city” after all.

In terms of outfits, there are so many different directions you can go. Similar to Vegas or Miami, there really are no rules here. Trust me when I say you will see all different kinds of styles and looks walking up and down Broadway. But since it’s Nashville, you should definitely have fun and embrace your country side… because why the hell not!

Here are some looks I rocked in Nashville:

My suggested packing list:

  • Cowboy boots x 2 – do I need to explain this?
  • Denim jacket x 2 – the evenings get cool & it’s nice to switch it up
  • Plaid Shirt – v country and good for in between weather
  • Jeans x 3 – a couple different washes are good to have to go with different fits, as well as to achieve a denim-on-denim look
  • Denim shorts x 3 – can’t go wrong with denim shorts, I wore them almost everyday
  • Skirt x 2 – one denim skirt, one midi skirt
  • T-Shirt x 3 – one plain, two band tees to fit the vibe
  • Tank top x 4 – great for layering and for hot days
  • Going-out top x 3 – duhhhhh
  • Denim dress – the best place to rock a denim dress!
  • Floral dress x 2 – cute to be worn during the day or at night
  • Sneakers – for when your feet hurt from the cowboy boots (& on the plane)
  • Sandals – for quick morning coffee runs
  • Wide brim hat x 2 – a chic essential for Nash
  • Purse – I brought one neutral bag to go with all looks
  • Sunglasses x 3 – you need options
  • PJs

When I packed for Nashville, I tried to stick to my most on brand pieces that I don’t necessarily wear all the time at home but fit the vibe of the city. I think a lot of people are scared to wear the stereotypical country fits, but for real, that’s what everyone wears there. I’m talking about your best denim pieces, band t-shirts, pretty floral dresses and skirts, fringe, cowboy boots, hats, plaids, and denim-on-denim. And if you combine all of these things, bonus points for you! I also found it to be a very casual city which is why I didn’t include heels on my packing list.

Just like I pack for all of my other trips, I find it easiest and the least overwhelming to pack by event/activity and work backwards from there. Here are some examples of outfits I would wear for certain Nashville activities:

Strolling the Johnny Cash museum: midi skirt, tank top, sneakers, wide brim hat

Rooftop drinks & mac and cheese on Broadway: denim shorts, tank top, plaid shirt, cowboy boots, sunnies

Shopping along 12th Ave: floral dress, cowboy boots, rectangle sunnies

Dancing at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge: going out top, jeans, cowboy boots

The must-do Pedal Tavern: denim-on-denim with denim shorts, band tee, denim fringe jacket, cowboy boots, round sunnies (don’t recommend a skirt/dress when pedaling!)

Catching a concert at the Bluebird Cafe: denim dress & cowboy boots

All in all, Nashville is seriously SO much fun and it’s all the more reason to go all out with your packing (coming from the extra gal herself). When it comes to your wardrobe, bring the boots, wear the denim-on-denim, and make Dolly proud!

Until we meet again, Nash! 🤠👢🎶🌃🎸✨

Peace & love!
