I feel like this blog is wayyyyyy overdue. As a total lover of all things swimwear, I’m shocked that this is the first blog I’ve done on the topic. You can ask my mom, I’ve been obsessed with swimwear from a very young age. Is it because I live in Canada and we only get to wear bathing suits three months of the year and I wish it were more?? Most likely! Now I know we’re over halfway through summer (😭), but there are plenty of sunny, fabulous beach days ahead of us. And we of course, need the right bather! 

My favourite swimwear are the ones I feel most confident in…obviously. There are so many brands of swimwear that recognize just that and do it right. For example, I love love love Frankies Bikinis, 437, Heavy Manners, WeWoreWhat, Aerie, and Monday Swimwear. I find that I’m very drawn to these brands because they have so many different styles, cuts, patterns, prints, materials, and looks to offer. I mean, I feel like this is fairly standard now that we’re in 2022 but I also really appreciate any brand that allows you to buy different sizes for the tops and bottoms. All of these brands do!

Just like everything else in fashion, bathing suit trends come and go. For summer 2022, the trends are super cute and fun but also a twist on past styles. Here are some of my fav swim looks I’ve seen so far:

A very popular trend I’ve been seeing in 2022 swimwear is the lingerie-inspired swim. This is exactly how it sounds… it could pass as what you would wear in the bedroom. This means finer details, pastels and neutrals, delicate materials, ruffles, and bows. Another very hot trend for swim is anything textured. This adds dimension to the suit and just makes you feel like you’re wearing more than a white bikini… when in reality it is just a white bikini! Add a colourful bucket hat, a patterned sarong, fun sunglasses, or chunky slides and you’ve achieved “cool girl” status. 

Another trend that I’m sure we have allllllll seen this summer is the string bikini – it’s back baby!! How very 90s. This string trend is in for both the tops and the bottoms, and people are having so much fun with it. I’ve seen tons of videos on TikTok and Reels on 8392482430534 different ways to tie your string bikini tops & bottoms. It’s great! Playing off this throwback theme, the high-cut bikini bottoms are also super in. Think Baywatch! The higher you can yank up the sides of your bikini bottoms, the better. 

If you have any trips planned into the fall or winter, these swimwear trends will still be smoking hot so you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Here’s to (hopefully) many more sunny, warm, marvellous swimming days so we can show off our super cute bathers! 🌞 *manifestation at its finest*
