5 Transitional Pieces For Fall

5 Transitional Pieces For Fall

Sad news.. but let’s get ready for it, friends! How to dress for the weather change and look fab doing it.

I know, I know. I’m holding back tears as I write this but summer is unfortunately coming to an end 😭😭😭. Devastating news. I just never want summer to end… like ever. You know what this means though, right? This means we definitely have to LIVE IT UP these next couple weeks and soak in all the sunshine before the days get shorter and the weather gets colder.

As sad as it may be that summer is almost over, I do really love fall and everything it has to offer. Everyone lovessssss fall fashion. It’s just the best. But I think one of the hardest parts about this time of year when it comes to fashion is how the hell to dress. It’s the classic cold in the morning, sweating your ass off in the day, and back to freezing at night. It’s too cold for tank tops on their own, but too warm for wool turtlenecks. It can be confusing AF for your wardrobe, that’s for suuuuure.

That’s why I wanted to write this blog to help all of us out when it comes to styling this time of year. The key is to invest in transitional pieces. These are the pieces that are extremely versatile and have the ability to smoothly carry you from summer into fall.

Let’s get into it! Here are five pieces you need to transition into the fall season:

Vests

I’ve already done a blog post on vests (Don’t Rest on Vests), so you know how I feel about them. They are one of the hottest ticket items of 2022 and they are holding their ground going into the fall. In the summer you can rock a vest layered with a tank top or wear it on its own as a shirt, but in the fall it’s all about the layering. Take that same vest you wore in July, but instead pair it with a long sleeve or light knit sweater, add a pumpkin spice latte, and you’re ready girlfriend.

Blazers

I feel like this one is a no brainer. Not only are blazers probably my fav piece in my wardrobe, but they are also so damn versatile. And we love that! Hailey Bieber has shown us all that a blazer can be worn alllll year long. On warmer days, blazers are great styled with tanks, bra tops, mini dresses, and shorts. On cooler days, blazers look so good with trousers, turtlenecks, jeans, and maxi dresses. A good neutral blazer can transition you into just about anything!

Slip Dresses

If you’re not obsessed with slip dresses right now, you’re doing it wrong. A good neutral slip dress can be one of the most worn pieces in your wardrobe because of how versatile it is. It can be worn as a dress layered with a t-shirt or turtleneck underneath, a skirt with a crew neck or t-shirt layered over top, or as a dress with a leather jacket, blazer, or trench coat to finish the look off. A slip dress can also be paired with sandals, sneakers, loafers, knee-high boots, or cowboy boots.

Button Downs

If you’re going to invest in one of these five items listed, it should be a solid white button down shirt. You can never go wrong here. I searched for years & years for a good quality white button down because I wear one so often. A button down shirt is such a classic piece and one that will never ever go out of style. So perfect for laying with tank tops, t-shirts, turtlenecks, blazers, vests, and dresses. The styling with a button down shirt truly is endless. So…GET ONE!

Loafers

The shoe of 2022. And the most perfect shoe to transition you from summer to fall. Styled with slouchy socks, tights, or on their own, loafers can absolutely do nooooo wrong. I love a good black, chunky-soled loafer myself, but there are also some really cute beige and brown pairs that go with so much too. You can style loafers with anything & everything which make them the most ideal transitional footwear.

Although there are definitely more pieces that work well as transitional items for the fall, I would say these five are the best and most on trend this year. Other great transitional pieces are a good leather jacket, trousers, cowboy boots, and a little white tee… of course 😏. See? When we talk about fall in a fashion sense it doesn’t seem AS scary.

I hope this list helps you conquer this weird in between weather that we will start to be experiencing in the next few weeks. We got this, friends 👊🏻.

In the meantime… long live summer!!!

Until next time…

Peace & love!
